Satire is the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people’s stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues. Herewithin we attack the mental and physical issue of the San Antonio Spurs.
This report: ‘The Dark Side of The Moon’, is intended to be a satirical report on the current condition of the San Antonio Spurs basketball team, particularly on the teams’ 2026 pursuit of a world Championship in the NBA tournament.
The San Antonio Spurs are a basketball team which has turned into the Apollo XIII (13 ) space mission and program. They are now stuck on the ‘Dark Side of The Moon’, and the team’s verbal communication sounds like a rehearsed monologue from the film: ‘One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest’.
The San Antonio Spurs basketball team is unexpectedly on the ‘Dark Side of The Moon’ after self-inflicted mistakes caused a complete meltdown in the 2026 NBA Finals. There are no championship trophies awarded to those stranded in outer space. This dark desolate void location is where the Spurs are located when dealing with their performance and game losses to the New York Knicks in the 2026 NBA Finals.
A 2026 World Basketball Team NBA Champion will be crowned, but unless a miracle from outer space occurs, it will not be the San Antonio Spurs. This is apparent after their game 4 loss to the New York Knicks. The San Antonio Spurs basketball team is far from being crowned champions.
The basketball team from Texas does not seem to have a realistic actual idea of how they got stranded in space, behind, unexpectedly beaten in their current desperate condition, and bewildered after game 4 of the 2026 NBA Finals. The team does not know what caused the meltdowns. The Spurs appear surprised that they cannot precisely re-apply their previously successful methods of flying rocket ship type game victories into their current endeavor. The team has no real idea what went wrong and they do not have any sufficient solutions currently available to solve the problems, just hope in darkness remains.
The Apollo XIII (13) Space Mission:
In 1970, Apollo XIII (13) was the United States of America’s seventh crewed mission in the Apollo space program and it would have been the third Moon landing for the program. NASA had big plans to conquer and colonize the planet. A more extensive exploration in their attempt to conquer the planet would be carried out by the Apollo XIII crew, who spent their lifetime preparing for this unique chance to walk on the Moon. But, en route, the historic catastrophe of a century struck the mission. The Astronauts never landed on the moon.
The mission changed, it became how to get the astronaut crew back to earth alive. Nobody on earth knew, at the time of the disaster, how to achieve the objective of saving the pilots from death in space on the ‘Dark Side of The Moon’.
It was 55-years-ago, when a member of the crew, Jim Swigert, attempted to perform a standard procedure and stir a liquid-oxygen-tank, simply by flipping a switch inside the command module of the space craft. He flipped the wrong switch! As a result, the air tanks blew up, and caused massive structural damage to the rocket ship.
Just as the Astronauts were comfortable in flight and confident in being able to land on the Moon, the Apollo XIII (13 ) Space Mission turned into a life threatening nightmare.
The ground crew in Houston, Texas, had absolutely no ideas about how it all had happened, what the damage assessment was, and, most importantly, how to stop this event from killing the three men inside the space module. Eventually, it was decided the best chance for survival would be to shoot the crew in the rocket ship around the ‘Dark Side of The Moon’, and hope it would sling them back to earth using the forces of gravity, hopefully alive.
Due to the extensive damage of the spacecraft, the chance of survival was extremely low. Without verbalizing the despair, everyone in the space program knew the chance of survival was low, the entire space program was in trouble.
Due to the extensive self-inflicted damage done during the 2026 NBA Finals during the first four games, the San Antonio Spurs have a very low chance of winning a 2026 Championship and they don’t know how they got themselves in this predicament. The entire team can’t verbalize the inevitable outcome.
The San Antonio Spurs were also on their journey to achieve great feats. They had just defeated the defending 2025 NBA Champions, the Oklahoma City Thunder, in a hard fought well played seven game Western conference playoff series. They would have been the youngest NBA team to ever have won a championship, but a historic unexpected disaster struck the basketball team in the second and fourth games in the 2026 NBA Finals. Flipping the wrong fundamental basketball switches was resulting in game losses. The coaches and players had no real factual idea about how the meltdown happened, nor not what to do about a solution.
After the three games of defeat, the Spurs players and coaches did not express or demonstrate any viable solutions. The coaches did not have any ideas as to what actually had caused this meteoric basketball game time meltdown. The message conveyed by team members to the media void of reality, it just happened, they said, it happens in basketball games all the time, that was their general response. Comments were echoed: “NBA games are long, … that’s how it goes, … the pendulum swings … … we are a young team”, speaking as if the meltdowns were all just normal procedures the coaches stated, “young players do these things. We’ll get better”. But well trained young players don’t do these things, it wasn’t normal, it was a historical catastrophe.
The entire team seemed to be bewildered about the actual ‘meltdown’ situation, just as the NASA mission team was dumb founded during Apollo XIII. The Spurs had no solutions to the problem they did not understand. They were self-destructing their chance of accomplishing what they had a lifetime of trying to achieve.
The good news is, the Apollo XIII crew eventually returned to earth and reached landfall in the State of Texas, battered, but alive in April of 1970, and the Spurs will return alive and still fit to play basketball in San Antonio Texas next week. The team is battered but hanging on to hope in the dark.
Neither the Apollo XIII (13) crew nor the 2026 San Antonio Spurs basketball team will ever be heralded success stories.
Ironically, the term often applied to the San Antonio Spurs game time performance is ‘meltdown’. This word meltdown was created in the early space age, referring to what could possibly happen to a rocket ship during re-entry into earth’s atmosphere from space. If everything wasn’t perfectly aligned, a rocket ship could melt down due to extensive heat returning to earth. It was later adopted by the Sports World, meaning, blowing a big points lead in a game and getting beat, when you shouldn’t have been beaten. The Spurs were suffering from multiple meltdowns in the NBA finals. Everything was out of alignment for the Spurs as they demonstrated many unintelligent human errors.
One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest is a 1975 American psychological comedy-drama classic famous film directed by Miloš Forman, based on the 1962 novel of the same name by Ken Kesey. The film stars Jack Nicholson as a new patient at a mental institution and Louise Fletcher as the abusive head nurse. The patient isn’t crazy, his own misdemeanor actions and stupidity resulted in his involuntary confinement in the nut house.
Watching the Spurs fall apart to pieces on the basketball floor to a degree unseen in the history of the game, was emotional. It was just like watching the main character in the film ‘One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest’. The pityful situation was all due to their own making and stupidity. The Spurs basketball team was also detained involuntarily, stuck inside the NBA Finals ‘bubble’, losing games they should have been winning, surrounded by people without proper perspective and without a sincere assessment of their own best interest.
The Spurs basketball demise was a dramatic sad comedy, with the same inevitable lasting impression of the heart wrenching ending of the film ‘One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest’, … … a classic film that could bring viewers to tears. The San Antoinio NBA Finals performance was also causing many tears. It is a film that reminds us that there are still good people in this world who see us as being far more than what others would see. The Spurs were far more than what the world was seeing during the 2026 NBA Finals.
We address the current Spurs athletic situation using satire by applying both the Apollo XIII experience and the story of this classic film. Tragedy is the shared common thread.

Title: “Houston We Have A Problem”!
Just like the Apollo XIII (13) space mission program, the 2026 San Antonio Spurs basketball team is stuck on the ‘Dark Side of The Moon’, and they have no actual real idea how they got there, in their current unfortunate condition, after the 2026 NBA Finals Game 4.
The communication of the Spurs team to the media during the 2026 Finals is just like that which occurred between the crew and mission control during Apollo XIII (13). What is really happening isn’t actually spoken, for fear of creating pessimism within the team.
The players and coaching staff’s verbal justification and communication are filled with statements of understanding which could have been concocted from the writer of the famous movie film, ‘One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest’.
Just like the Apollo XIII crew, the 2026 Spurs can only mutter what sounds like something similar to the famous statement made by the Apollo crew and heard throughout the entire Universe, “Houston, We Have a Problem!”. The Spurs are broadcasting to the entire global viewership, ‘we have a problem’, without actually stating the problem.
The San Antonio Spurs coaching crew says, one thing verbally to the press, but they are actually saying something entirely different in their complete communication. … … … it’s like the Apollo XIII (13) crew’s communication with the ground control in Houston Texas.
Crew: uuuh … …, something went haywire, … after we mixed the air tanks.
Crew: … we heard a loud boom, maybe an explosion. We saw, well, what looks to us like a fluid of mist, it is flying by the window, as the rocket ship continues to travel at 25,000 miles per hour.
Crew: But, … … we have no idea, what went wrong, our instruments are going wacky, …. sometimes these things just happen, don’t they Houston? Houston, we have a problem … what shall we do now Houston?
Houston’s Communicated Solution To the Apollo XIII Crew:
Houston Ground Control: We are going to sling you around the , “Dark Side of The Moon”, we will get you back to earth a.s.a.p., everything’s under control Apollo XIII. Don’t worry we got this, we will get you to the Moon on the next trip. We can do anything. We invented space travel.
What was actually being communicated by the ground crew team leaders was: … we hope you do not get stranded, and die from a lack of heat and oxygen. Maybe this will work. Perhaps, if we are lucky, we won’t leave you stranded in space with no way to return. There is actually only a small chance you will survive. … … most likely you will splash down to earth already dead. But we think we’ll get you and the space ship back to earth one way or another, dead or alive.
Don’t worry Apollo XIII (13), it’s in our hands. We are all 39 year old geniuses, rocket scientists, we can do anything, we are smarter than everybody else on earth. Unfortunately for the Apollo crew, the problem is in space not on earth and the brilliant obnoxious over confident young ground engineers don’t have any idea how to save the Astronauts.
Don’t worry Apollo, we got this. Roger that Apollo … … … . Do you copy?
What the Houston ground crew leaders were communicating in 1970 is almost the same thing as the 2026 Spurs coaching staff is saying now in the NBA Finals. We were in control of the outcome of three basketball games we lost. We determined the game’s outcome, not the Knicks, who won the games. We want to play the same way we played in the games we lost, but we need to win the last minute of the games. We invented this ‘New Age’ NBA game. We have a new system built around a 7’5″ phenom basketball player. We are young coaching geniuses and can still win the championship trophy. However, they are only fooling themselves and the gullible.
The Spurs forgot the ‘Golden Rules of Basketball’. The fundamentals of basketball never change.

Title: The One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest Lasts 20 Seconds of Game 2!
It is completely understandable how the 2026 Spurs got here, on the ‘Dark Side of The Moon’, when you consider their tremendous playoff success, and the lack of coaching and player experience. At this level of competition with little time between games to adjust, thousands of split second very difficult decisions must be made by the entire group. The correct choices must be selected simultaneously. It’s a difficult process. One wrong decision can result in a complete meltdown on the court.
If just one player or coach flips the wrong switch it is just like:
ASTRONAUT JIM SWIGERT FLIPPING THE WRONG SWITCH TO STIR THE OXYGEN TANKS IN APOLLO XIII, … … … IT ALL SEEMS GOING WELL THEN , JUST LIKE APOLLO XIII … … MELTDOWN!
The Spurs 28-2 tremendous record at the end of the 2026 regular season … then, an easy Portland smash and roll over in round one of the playoofs, … … then a hard fought battle proven victory against the odds favorite defending Champs, the OKC Thunder, a full 7 game series test of fortitude. Win, win, and win, then boom, disaster strikes. Somebody hit the wrong switch, people are making the wrong decisions.
The Spurs basketball team showed signs of hitting the wrong switches in previous games throughout the season, but nobody stopped and told anyone who would listen, hey, if you flip the switch one more time, the meltdown is going to happen. You are not executing some of the basic fundamentals of basketball, even when you are winning games. Nobody was listening.
Now, down 3 games to 1 against the New York Knickabockers, ( a.k.a. the New York Knick-A-Boxers), the Fat Lady is about to sing: ‘New York New York’, … it’s my kinda town. This is not the song the Spurs wanted to hear.
It is completely crazy how they lost all three of these playoff games against the Knicks, starting all the games with a dominant performance, up by big leads in points, then melting away with mistake after mistake, stupidity and carelessness on full display. Yet everyone seemed to dismiss it as part of what is expected. Lots of wrong switches being flipped on at the wrong crucial moments. … no ability to switch it back to change the consequences .
The Spurs made history in a 39 point collapse of a lead in game four (4). That melt meltdown wasn’t normal.
The Game 2 classic meltdown is one for the history books. It was a jaw dropping last second catastrophe of epic disbelief. When a certain victory or at least an overtime period was destroyed by wrong decisions.
Just as the Spurs are going to have the last second shot to claim victory, or go into overtime in the worst possible scenario — then the series would have been level at 1 game a piece, which would change the entire perspective of the competition pressure and chance for a championship trophy — just then, Victor Wembanyama, shockingly, hits Stephon Castle in the back with a stupid pass, … … just 11 seconds remained in that game, and the SCORE IS TIED. Big mistake. The mistake is compounded as Victor Wembanyama unexplainably rushes into the frey and pushes Knicks guard, Jalen Brunson, out of bounds as Brunson recovers Victor’s errant stupid pass. Thus, sending Brunson to the ‘free throw line’ to make the winning point. That’s flipping the wrong switch multiple times. That’s a historic meltdown.
Good High School basketball players are taught and drilled not to make a mistake such as this. How does a professional basketball player in the finals make this mistake, well, he isn’t trained properly, that’s how. Further, what is the coaching response to this big mistake. It sounds like script lines’ from the film ‘One Flew Out of the Cuckoo’s Nest’,
All we heard from the coaches and players was: “I guessed it wrong, … I didn’t see him, or I didn’t see the ball, I didn’t know the time, the score … … … I didn’t know this or that, … … I need to go back and look at the film, … … I thought he would dribble, … … it’s all on me, I messed up, … it’s my bad, .. … . The coach added, well, it happens in games, …. we are young, … it happens to young players, … … we thought it best not to take a timeout, …, … it can happen to anybody, … … … . Yes, waving the hands and screaming from the sidelines (like cheerleaders) is our coaching game plan for this situation, … … … we wanted to save the last timeout … … ! More great script lines, …. .. we didn’t it was a mistake for 7’5” Victor Wembanyama to play point guard in the last 10 seconds of the game. Everything said by the team reflects a cuckoo’s nest catastrophe.
I thought all the players were going to run over and hug Victor Wembanyama after he made the dumbest mistake in his basketball career. Maybe the Spurs would have a big team hug during the timeout right after Jalen Brunson stuck a dagger into the Spurs with the last point of the game being made from the ‘FREETHROW LINE”!
Brunson must have thought it was a blessing from the basketball Gods. We have this play running in slow motion on this website. You should see Brunson’s facial expression and eyes as he reacts to Wembanyama’s last second stupid pass and unbelievably dumb decision. His surprised look of disbelief that anyone would make such a pass is striking!
Just like Victor Wembanyama and other players hugged Carter Bryant after he correctly and justifiably got chewed out by Coach Mitch Johnson on the sidelines in an earlier playoff game, I thought the entire Spurs team was gonna have a great big team hug, on the bench, soon after the play, even before the game even ended. … … … … … . The players are so soft at certain times, sometimes they act like a bunch of happy go lucky marshmellows, (yes mellow – as in soft – not mallows, as marshmallow is correctly spelled), a group of millionaire basketball player marsh-MELLOWS. At the time of the disaster, I thought, next the Spurs might have a camp fire and sing the song of ‘Kumbaya’!
The Spurs Coaching staff seems happy with the Kumbaya team spirit and sideline hugs.
While all this ‘cotton soft activity’ of the Spurs is taking place, the New York Knicks are playing rough tough, dirty trick, beat you up, grab your hair, kick you, toss you on the floor, ‘New York City Park Style Basketball’, just like they are playing in the Grenwich Park chain fence games.
Coach Mitch Johnson is talking about, just repeating what they ‘do’ in the games, to the press media, … except Coach wants to change the ending, Oh boy … see the quote below .. repeat what you do, are you nuts?
A Cuckoo Bird flew over this team too many times in the games against New York in the 2026 NBA Finals.
Victor and everyone on the court, with no plan at the end of game 2, … Victor is not sure which NBA star point guard he wants to emulate, … should he be John Stockton, and pass the ball, or should he pretend he is Isiah Thomas, and dribble up the court himself. He thinks he is a point guard. The Spurs coaching staff let him believe he was a point guard for the entire season, why would he change in the last seconds of the most important game of his life. Somebody forgot to teach him the fundamental rule of basketball point guards.
Nobody knows Victor’s next move, what he is going to do next … … a teammate later says to the media, “well, sometimes Victor brings the ball up the court, so I didn’t know what to do” ,…..
Did anyone from the Spurs organization ask Victor, why the H-E-L-L did you try to play point guard? You are NOT a point guard, you are a 7’5″ basketball player, don’t you know what a point guard’s job is on the basketball court, don’t you know basic basketball rules , in the last seconds of a game? The point guard is supposed to always handle the ball. Why, because he is the best at handling the basketball. Learned by most players in about 8th grade. No we dare not confront the 7’5″ super star, he is just 22 years old, we can’t upset the big guy, he’s our ‘cash cow’.
Nobody asked anybody on and off the court, why did you not call a timeout. Nor did they ask the bench, why did you not call a timeout as you all jumped around like a big group of cheerleaders in a panic?
All the Coaches on the Spurs bench are going crazy like cheerleaders, really, … ..not professional … nobody with any control or restraint, quite immature. How did that play out for all you young genius coaches, who think you’ve reinvented the game of basketball in San Antonio. Do you know how all this is supposed to go, how it should go … in that situation.
Question: isn’t this ALL to have already been practiced dozens of times in the season and why is this NOT set in stone as team policy.
Just a few ideas as I watch the Spurs version of ‘One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest’ take over the last seconds of game 2 in the 2026 NBA Championship history making, career effecting, life altering, important basketball game, just asking a few questions, that’s all.
Yes, I know, “If , … … ifs and buts were candy and nuts then everyday would be Christmas”, or perhaps an NBA Championship! Second guessing is easy, but so is proper execution, if practiced and implemented.
It is a goofy old folksy idiom used to dismiss excuses, hypothetical objections, or wishful thinking. The message is that mere words and speculation or second guessing players and coaches don’t produce real, tangible results. It isn’t easy winning a trophy.
To win an NBA Championship, usually, difficult questions must be asked and properly responded to in order to win.
Title: THE COACH ON THE COUCH SATIRE
By: Doctor Dunkenstein
Part 1
Scene: Therapy Office Conversation … between Doctor Dunkenstein and his patient, Head Spurs Coach Mitch Johnson
Satire
Well , the Doctor now ask his patient, … … … “Coach, Mitch, Do you think you, or the basketball team are crazy”?
[ Head Coach, Mitchell Johnson, responds to this very same question, in the game 4 post game media interview, … … .]
Coach Johnson responds: “NO.”
Trying to explain it to himself and the world – his facial expression and eyes give away his true pain and frustration – , Coach responds: “.Ummm .. … no, no we are not crazy. We felt we (the Spurs) played well enough to win all the 4 NBA Finals games which we lost. We think we, the Spurs have determined the game’s outcomes. We (the Spurs) just need to play just the same way we have already been playing, but change the outcome (ending) “.
Doctor Dunkenstein recalls his post graduate training, and he thinks to himself … ummm …
Albert Einstein one said,”the definition of insanity, ( being Nuts), is repeating the same action over and over and expecting a different result.
This crazy behavior has been agreed by all of the Doctors of Basketball, all who are looking at this very ‘strange’ case, as being a decease of self inflicting errors by the Spurs. …. , this Einstein statement is established to be a major part of the Spurs typical game performances in the playoffs. They are repeating the same thing over and over again and now the Coach is saying he is expecting a different result. .
Doctor Dunkenstein leans back in his office chair behind his large desk, puffs on his pipe. Then he speaks to the patient Coach.
“Yes,” the Doctor verbally agrees with affirmation, ” I see Coach, (Coach Mitch Johnson) everything is going just as you want it to go, but you need to change the outcome. Is that it?”
But Doctor Dunkenstein actually thinks, yes, the Spurs are insane – as far as basketball is considered, they are nuts. But the Doc keeps his true thoughts to himself. He wants to help his patient reach his own conclusions.
The Doctor says, “Well, Mitch, you guys have determined those outcomes, that is for certain. But what contributed to the outcome you did not desire, Coach?
The Doctor: “Are you telling me, you built a large lead early in the game, correct? Then, you slowly gave up that lead in points for 2-3 quarters of the game, right? Are you saying, you want the team to play just like they were playing as the lead you built up was going down the toilet? Is that what you’re saying Coach Mitch?”
Long pause, Coach Mitch stares into the roof.
Doctor continues: “But you did not play well in the majority of the minutes in the games, with exception to the first quarter of the games, isn’t that right, Coach, are you sure that is how you really want the team to play basketball”?
Doctor: “So, you are saying you were you playing well as the lead in points was evaporating, Coach? A slow leak in a tire has the same effect as a big leak, doesn’t it Coach? Even if you can continue driving on the leaking tire, (even if you maintain a ‘smaller’ lead in the score) the tire is still going flat, right Coach?
Doctor Dunkenstein wants Coach Johnson to self-realize, … the idea must be of his own making: .. … playing the same way, but change the outcomes, that simply makes no sense. Saying that just how NBA games go is a poor excuse for paid basketball play.
The Doctor of Dunk works for a therapy breakthrough on this point with the Coach.
The Doctor says: “So what you are saying, Coach, is: it’s ok to play and blow big leads, have meltdowns that last two and three quarters of a game, but, … … … you want to play great at the last minute and win the game in this manner. Is that what you are saying Coach?”
… …ummm, Coach Johnson must take a moment, he thinks and analyze his own statement. Then Coach has a therapy breakthrough , Coach Mitch says, “something is not correct about our play in most of the minutes in all the games of the 2026 Finals, … … like we did make too many mistakes to just change the outcomes”.
Great it’s his idea. Ummm , the Doctor lightly verbally sounds a moan, and off in his response he listens to the further verbal statements from the man in charge of this San Antonio Spurs basketball disaster, … as the patient lays on the couch staring at the ceiling, he begins to agree with what the doctor has just purposed.
The Doctor thinks to himself: Is this a long term delusional serious problem. Or ,is this an attempt made by the coach to evade what has happened and provide some sort of motivation, temporarily as it may be, for the players, fans and team in the upcoming game 5. A method to keep hope alive.
Of course, eventually coach must face reality, whatever that is found to be on the Dark Side of the Moon.
In conclusion of the therapy session, the Doctor Dunkenstein, with a PhD of basketball, suggest a solution to Coach Mitch Johnson,
1. Mitch should listening to the above music album: ‘Dark side of The Moon’, stare at the moving prism, alone, in complete darkness, listen at high volume … deeply contemplating the issues of the crazy San Antonio Spurs basketball performance. The Doctor tell Coach Mitch, let your mind then come to conclusions and possible long term solutions.
The Doctor tells Coach: “Think about your statement, We just need to do the same things we were doing, BUT change the ending, do what we do in the first quarter of the basketball games for the entire game”,
Post Therapy Session Issue: This sounds like it meets the Albert Einstein explanation of NUTS.
Post Therapy Session Notes: … leaving the session with the question, how deep into the Spurs organization is the misunderstanding of the real issues and problems. Problems are often resurfaced, covered up, and blown off when all the parties involved are making millions of dollars in personal income. Could this be an issue?
Potential Consequences: Will the the Spurs suffer as a global basketball team a lasting impression as one of the most young talented teams to ever play in an NBA finals and piss it all away by being young, dumb, and crazy, …
Will the Spurs have this permanent public worldwide impression placed upon them just as they have earned, a ‘STIGMA” attached to failure, diagnosed as a meltdown , a team that burn up in re-entry, a meltdown reputation?
It happens, ask the Buffolo Bills NFL team.
Part 2
Scene: A Group of Basketball Doctors are meeting to discuss the San Antonio Spurs.
All of the top basketball Doctors, specialists and clinicians throughout the world of basketball have been consulted as to the extremely unusual behavior of the San Antonio Spurs Basketball Team throughout the 2026 NBA Playoffs.
There has not been a consensus as to the obvious cause(s) of the ailment.
… an illness or physical disorder, at minimum a minor one, is present in the players, even perhaps in the coaching staff.
However, it is an unanimous conclusion with all the experts that the Spurs are suffering from a serious self destructive ‘basketball decease’, previously never witnessed in professional basketball.
It has no given name … but it is related to physical and mental disorders. It reflects itself in inexcusable, crazy, stupid on court decisions during the games … … . It often manifest itself in the youngest of basketball players.
The good news is, if an early diagnosis and treatment is established, the deceased has , at times, reached a controlled appropriate level of existence.
It is repetitive, and it is on … displayed on the court during every game. so the cure involves strict practice regulations and drills, hours of hard work, reprogramming and habit changing strong methods.
This technique is not often well accepted by millionaire professional basketball players.
The symptoms are: … exceptional high level of play – resulting in success and leads, and at dominant basketball skill performance, resulting in big leads, and then the disease takes over, it’s self destruction!
A degree of self destruction not ever previously witness in any NBA playoff game.
Not once, not twice but maybe 6 times, it appears … like a cancer.
What happens on the basketball court to the Spurs, resembles, on the court in late quarters of these games, a human epileptic uncontrollable seizure. A concurrence of errors which would be funny if not so tragic.
There is no known cure for the Spurs at this moment in time. Long therapy may be required … … … and the only possible treatment.
Yet, it is making history with its play and results by flashes of genius and brilliance.
Most notable a 29 point lead and collapse in game 4 of the 2026 NBA finals in New York against the Knicks on June 10, 2026.
Further deep analysis is underway to establish this phenomena … …
Date July 30, 2026
Conclusion: ‘There Are Consequences, Mitigate Them”
Just like the space craft Apollo Thirteen (XIII), when the rocket ship air pressure tank first blew up, on the other side of the moon, nobody actually knew the complete set of ‘problems”, nor the actual situation. Anyone can be forgiven for not clearly seeing everything about a complex problem while inside the ‘NBA Playoff Bubble’. It’s often blinding and it can obscure reality for the best of coaches.
The San Antonio Spurs recently hired Hall of Fame Coach Billy Donovan to replace Coach Sean Sweeny, after he was named the Orlando Magic Head Basketball Coach. Perhaps, his years of experience is an effort to mitigate the consequences of losing the 2026 NBA Finals.
Addendum:
Suggestion: Apply humor, it helps.
And, … unless something even more bizzare and crazy occurs – and it is always possible with this young group of crazy basketball players – it looks like this constant repeating of game self inflicted damage and destruction has now left the San Antonio Spurs in second place in 2026 … with no trophy.
Nobody remembers 2nd place.
… … we tried ‘The Lime and The Coconut’ cure after game two, some relief was noticeable … as the Spurs hung on to win game three. Nevertheless, the exact same ailments and symptoms demonstrated in every game throughout the playoffs was apparent in game 4 and game 5.
Evidence of a serious basketball failure was never more apparent than in game 4, as the Spurs made history to be the first basketball team in 440 NBA playoff games to dwindle away, toss away, float down the drain, choke in the clutch, a 29 point lead in a meltdown.
The Dark Side of the Moon was a famous 1972 best selling music album built upon experiments by the band ‘Pink Floyd’ .
Things the band had attempted in their previous live shows and recordings,
… the extended instrumental excursions had become characteristic of the band.
